FREDERICKTOWN — Two miles of intertwining trails in Fredericktown are the site of the September “Get Your Tail to the Trail’ walk sponsored by the Knox County Health Department. Scheduled on the first Saturday of the month, the Sept. 1 walk begins at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the Fredericktown Recreation District office, 121 Mill St.
The unpaved natural trails of various lengths and terrains are located around the park district office and along the long driveway leading to the office. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. While everyone will begin the walk at the same time, participants can walk at their own pace and whatever distance they choose.
There is no cost to take part in the wellness walks and pre-registration is not necessary. Each wellness walk is led by Health Commissioner Julie Miller and other health department staff. The first 25 people to participate in each walk will receive a plastic water bottle especially designed for the “Get Your Tail to the Trail” walks and a guidebook of Ohio birds.
The monthly walks are a joint effort with the Knox County Park District and feature a different walking trail in Knox County. In October, the monthly wellness walk will take place at Honey Run as part of the Heart of Ohio Tour. The Oct. 6 walk will begin at 2 p.m.
