MOUNT VERNON — Chili chefs have a chance to show off their best recipe at the Chili Cook-Off and Family Fun Day slated for Saturday, Sept. 22. Chefs can compete in one of three categories: Restaurants, Business or Individual/Other. Parizes will be awarded in each of the categories, and community members will have a chance to vote for their favorite chili.
Entry forms can be obtained at Frog Dogs, 812 Coshocton Ave.; The Cookie Cupboard, 444 Columbus Road; or Jake’s Restaurant, 996 Coshocton Ave., or online at http://onemealatatime.org. Entries received by Sept. 15 will be listed in an ad in the Mount Vernon News on Sept. 20.
In addition to the cook-off, other activities include face painting, magician Rex Naylor, a bounce house, pony rides sponsored by Li’l Piece of Heaven and musical entertainment from Autumn Daze, Chestnut Ridge and Noah Stull. Activities run from noon to 4 p.m.
The cook-off benefits the Knox County Chapter of the Byron Saunders Foundation. The mission of the Byron Saunders Foundation is to provide a Thanksgiving meal for those in need. Money raised locally stays in Knox County. For more information on the Knox County Chapter call (740) 397-8999 or (740) 397-2004.
