DANVILLE — A bit of magic will be coming to the Danville Public Library on Monday, Sept. 17, at 6:30 p.m., with Gary Worster when he kicks off the adult program with “Black Iron Magic” at the Danville Community Park.

Worster, a retired meat inspector known as the “Emeril of the Outdoors,” proves once again that cooking over an open fire with cast iron can be fun, challenging and delicious as he prepares BBQ Ham on biscuits, Chuck Wagon Baked beans, Dutch Oven Vegetables and Deep-dish Apple Crisp for dessert.

According to Elizabeth Carpenter, manager of the Danville and Gambier libraries, “Gary is a devoted patron of the library and donates all the food and his time for these wonderful programs.”

Worster began cooking for friends at hunting camps and has demonstrated the art of outdoor, open-fire cooking for more than 12 years. He also caters for wedding receptions, and has done hog roasts.

This program is free and open to the public, and sponsored by the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County. Attendance will be limited to 40 people. To register or for more information, contact the Danville Public Library at 740-599-BOOK (2665).
