CENTERBURG — Bring a canine friend for a fun “find the treat” walk and join the Centerburg Joint Recreation District for a program on the Heart of Ohio Trail. Meet in Centerburg at the HoO trail intersection with Clayton Street near Pizzaburg on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Participants and pooches will walk a short section of the trail and look for “treasures” pre-planted along the way. Guests will return to the trail near Pizzaburg where a trailside table will feature a special snack of crust and cheese, and where Animal Station will provide “toppings” of doggie treats and free samples that can really make Rover’s day. Hair of the Dog animal grooming salon will also provide up to 20 certificates for a free nail trimming.

“This program actually grew out of a suggestion from a program participant for a dog walk,” said Gary Moore, CJRD program consultant.

“These programs are a good example of how CJRD is growing local partnerships and recreation activities for the Centerburg community” said CJRD Administrator Dave Beck.

Note that CJRD requires that all dogs be on leashes during the program, sick or aggressive dogs should not participate, and all owners are expected to clean up after their dogs. Additional suggestions to make a successful outing are posted at the recently expanded website.

The program is part of a recently initiated series by CJRD to introduce local residents to the natural and cultural treasures and recreational opportunities of the Centerburg area. The Centerburg Joint Recreation District was created to provide Centerburg residents greater recreation opportunity and variety. The mission of the CJRD is to physically and financially assist in the enhancement of recreational facilities and programs, and also to expand and develop additional recreational facilities and programs in the Centerburg School District.

For more information contact CJRD Administrator Dave Beck at 625-5123.
