MOUNT VERNON — For more than twenty years, dollhouses from the past have been among the most popular attractions at the Knox County Historical Society Museum. Whether large or small, ordinary or fancy, visitors of all ages are drawn to the beautiful furnished dollhouses that are featured in the children’s area of the museum.
These dollhouses will be the main topic at the Wednesday, Oct. 3, meeting at the museum, 875 Harcourt Road, at 7:30 p.m., when a presentation and discussion will be led by Historical Society Trustee Irma Hood. For many years, Hood has overseen the furnishing, decoration and maintenance of the dollhouse collection. Her expertise in the field of miniatures has added greatly to the accuracy of the exhibit. Among those to be presented are the beautiful personal dollhouse donated by Barbara Butler, and the three-story, 8-foot-wide dollhouse built by Joe Street and donated to the museum more than 20 years ago.
The meeting is free and open to the public. All persons and collectors interested in dollhouses and their furnishings are invited to attend. For more information, call the museum at 393-5247.
