MOUNT VERNON — The Committee for Public Health will hold an open house at the Knox County Health Department on Thursday, Oct. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be tours of the facility and all programs will be on display. The medical clinic will offer free blood pressure screenings. Flu shots and Tetanus shots will be available for the regular charge.
The Committee for Public Health is an independent, volunteer group that promotes passage of the upcoming health department levy. “The open house is an opportunity for anyone who has never been to the health department to meet some of the staff and find out what the health department does,” said Pat Tuttle, chairperson of the committee. “It’s also an opportunity for the committee to raise funds.”
As part of the open house there will be a silent auction of items donated to the committee. Among the items are Ohio State University memorabilia including several framed prints including the building of “The Shoe” football stadium and Coach Woody Hayes.
The event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served. There is no cost to attend.
