MOUNT VERNON — Twelve hours of nostalgic chills and thrills will be featured during a free Classic Scary Movie Marathon on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County.
Beginning at noon, the marathon will feature the following classic horror movies with movie start times: “The Blob” at noon; “The Thing” at 1:30 p.m.; “The Fly” at 3 p.m.; “Nosferatu” at 4:30 p.m.; “The Fall of the House of Usher” at 6 p.m.; The Birds” 8 p.m.; and “Psycho” at 10 p.m.
Participants can come for one or all shows. Halloween costumes welcome. Free and open to the public with parent or caregiver present with children under 12. Refreshments will be served. After library closes at 5 p.m., the only door open will be the west entrance on the side of the parking lot.
Most of the original classic movies are not rated, however, PG-13 would be appropriate guidance for children, with “Psycho” being rated at both PG and R modern rating for violence during classic shower murder scene. The movies are free and open to the public, and will be shown in the lower level multipurpose room at the main library, 201 N. Mulberry St. Free popcorn provided by Subway of Mount Vernon and beverages will be served.
