MOUNT VERNON — Starting Tuesday, Nov. 13, the City of Mount Vernon Street Department will begin making second pass and “final” pass to pick up leaves.
Street department crews emphasizes that leaves be raked to the curb and not out into the street. Raking leaves into the street results in clogging up storm sewers. Refrain from parking on the street when leaf pickup is scheduled for that area.
For updates on where leaf pickup is taking place, call the street department at 393-9501 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. How quickly or slowly the crews reach individual streets depends on the weather and how many people do not have their leaves raked to the curbs.
Again, have leaves raked to the curb but not into the street. Raking leaves into the street results in clogging up storm sewers. Refrain from parking on the street when leaf pickup is scheduled for that area.
