MOUNT VERNON — In the United States, more than 100,000 persons die each year from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Lung Spirometry Screening is used for early detection of obstructive lung disease in the high-risk population such as smokers, non-smokers exposed to second-hand smoke and those with chronic exposure to unclean air. This screening provides easy and effective early detection of COPD and is used to screen lung function and volume.
In observance of the Great American Smoke-Out, Knox Community Hospital offers free pulmonary function screenings on Thursday, Nov.15, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Sleep Lab on the 3rd floor of the hospital. Walk-ins are welcome, no appointment is necessary.
