MOUNT VERNON — Two featured poets and one featured musician will present excerpts of their work at Sips Coffee House, Tuesday. Master of ceremonies for the evening will be Mark Hersman, who is also a poet.
Grace Curtis’ chapbook, the Surly Bonds of Earth, was selected by Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Stephen Dunn, as the winner of the Lettre Savage 2012 Poetry Contest. She has won several distinguished awards and prizes. Curtis has had interviews, essays and book reviews published.
Dawn Shepler-Shimp is an active poet from the Cleveland community and belongs to a highly respected writers group there. Shepler-Shimp’s poetry has been published in multiple places.
David Kender has been a solo artist most of his life. He specializes in writing music with lyrics and playing rhythm guitar. He plays anywhere he can just to get his music heard.
Admission is free and there will be an open mic following the evening’s entertainment.
Sips is located 101 S. Main St., Mount Vernon. The program will run from 6 to 9 p.m.
