MOUNT VERNON — On Thursday, Nov. 29, the day before the Chautauqua Beatles hit the stage at the Memorial Theater to perform over 25 Beatles classics to benefit the Food for the Hungry campaign, George Harrison will speak at the Chautauqua Series 7th season finale.
Sometimes called the quiet Beatle, Harrison (portrayed by Desmond Wall) will take guests on a journey into the life of a Beatle. Set at the time of the Beatles break-up, Harrison and his friend Klaus Voorman (bass player and friend from Hamburg, Germany) will be working on material for George’s first solo album, the highly respected “All Things Must Pass.” Along the way Harrison and Voorman will talk about their memories in Hamburg, when Voorman first met the Beatles and 17-year-old Harrison. Other memories of Harrison’s life will be explored along with playing various songs Harrison wrote or played with the Beatles and beyond.
Elixir, the Ohio Humanities Council and Ariel Foundation support the Chautauqua Series in Knox County, the only year round Chautauqua in the United States. This program is presented on a donation basis and will be presented at ThePlace@TheWoodward, 111 S. Main St., at 7 p.m. Doors to this first floor facility that is wheel chair, walker and stroller friendly will open at 6 PM and anyone with special needs will be helped to their seats.
