MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon News office will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. The office will also be closed Monday, Dec. 24, at noon.
The deadline for obituaries for the Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 papers is 8 a.m. The deadline for obituaries for the Jan. 1 paper is 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 31.
The following offices and businesses will also be closed for Christmas and New Year’s Day:
•Knox Area Transit will be closed for Christmas Day and reopen Wednesday. Also will be closed New Year’s Day and reopen Wednesday for regular business hours.
•Knox County Department of Job & Family Services will be closed Monday and Tuesday. This includes Workforce Development, Opportunity Knox One Stop Employment and Training, Public Assistance, Child Support Enforcement, and Children and Family Services. In observance of New Year’s, these offices will also close New Year’s Day.
•The office of the Knox Metropolitan Housing Authority will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The office handling the CHIP housing rehabilitation activities for the city of Mount Vernon and Knox County will also be closed.
