DANVILLE — Often described as one of the “best short reads” of all time, “Animal Farm,” by George Orwell will be the featured book at the Danville Public Library Adult Book Discussion on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 6:30 p.m.

Discussion leader Sean Smith will lead a discussion of the classic Orwellian novella first published in 1946. The engaging tale is full of symbolism as a farm is overtaken by its overworked and mistreated animals. They take over the management of the property from their human masters, and set about creating a utopian society where everyone works hard in order to enjoy a life of justice, equality and prosperity. But all is soon overshadowed by the lure of power, privilege and corruption.

The program is free and open to the public and will be held next door to the Danville Public Library at the Hot Spot on South Market Street. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 740-599-BOOK (2665), visit www.knox.net or email communityrelations@knox.net.
