MOUNT VERNON — All over the globe, Sweet Adelines International choruses are joining together to teach the world to sing. Women of all ages who enjoy singing are invited to attend a Harmony Expo, sponsored by the Dogwood Blossoms Chorus on Jan. 22 at Central Christian Church, 17833 Gambier Road, Mount Vernon. Dogwood Blossoms is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an organization of nearly 25,000 women worldwide who sing four-part a cappella harmony, barbershop style.

The Dogwood Blossom chorus members share a love for music and singing barbershop harmony. As a member, you too can experience the exhilaration of performing and singing with the Dogwood Blossoms. Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of the chorus’ musical leaders and director(s). The ability to read music is not a requirement.

The Harmony Expo begins at 7 p.m. Guests are invited to stop in any time between 7 and 9:30 p.m. to visit seven learning stations and find out more about four-part a cappella singing. Stations include: Vocal lessons, tag singing, chorus membership, and even enjoy a “Sweet” treat! The chorus will also be performing throughout the evening.

The Dogwood Blossoms Chorus performs regularly throughout the community, offering its talent for entertainment at civic events and charitable functions. They also perform annually at the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival and Ye Olde Mill.
