MOUNT VERNON — The environment health staff with the Knox County Health Department will hold a “Person In Charge” training on Wednesday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the health department conference room.
This one-day food safety class is for food service workers with little or no food service experience or those needing a refresher course. There is no cost, but registration is requested. To register, call 392-2200, ext. 2222. Walk-ins will be accepted.
The Person-In-Charge (PIC) training is required for the person in charge per shift at a risk level I, II, III or IV food service operation or retail food establishment especially when the operation or establishment is new. Topics include time and temperature controls, cleaning and sanitation, personal hygiene, hazard analysis and critical control points, work safety, injury prevention, cross contamination control, food microbiology and the prevention of food borne diseases.
Upon successful completion of the course, each attendee will receive a PIC/Level One training certificate.
