MOUNT VERNON — February reminds us of Valentines, sweethearts and chocolate and those who are “chocoholics” will find interest in a novel way to promote donations for a national baton competition to be held in Texas during March. No boring car wash, bake sale or dollar candy bar sales for these “sweeties” from Auxiliary Creation Studios, in Mount Vernon. They have conjured up a Chocolate Tour to fund their baton competition. All profits to go toward travel expenses.
Ten hotels, inns and bed & breakfast establishments in Knox County will offer samples of chocolate.
The tour begins Feb. 3, at 1 p.m., and includes: The White Oak Inn, Kenyon Inn, Cider House, Mount Vernon Inn, Heartland Country Restaurant, Camp McPherson, Felicia’s Guest House, the Russell-Cooper House and the Holiday Inn. Participants who have their tickets stamped at all 10 sites will have a chance to win a romantic dinner at Winestein’s and a night in a jacuzzi suite in the Comfort Inn.
All the chocolate will be handmade.
Tickets can be purchased at Flappers or by calling Laurie at 740-392-7119.
