MOUNT VERNON — The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will once again visit the Knox County Health Department as well as two other locations in 2013. The state-of-the-art care mobile is staffed with a full-time doctor, nurse and medical technician. Children from birth to age 21 are eligible for healthcare services ranging from well-care visits to immunizations and sports physicals to sick-child appointments.
The care mobile will be at the health department on Jan. 29, March 26 and May 28. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments are not necessary.
New locations include The Sanctuary in Danville on Feb. 26 and Head Start in Fredericktown on April 30.
There is a cost for a visit to the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. Parents must present their insurance or Medicaid card for their child to receive services. However, no child will be turned away due to a family’s inability to pay. If a child has already received services at Nationwide Children’s Hospital or any of the neighborhood Nationwide Children’s Hospital clinics, the child’s information is already in the network.
When at the health department, the care mobile will be parked on the south side of the health department and will be visible from Coshocton Road. Visitors do not have to come into the health department first to visit the care mobile, but can come in before the visit to pick up paperwork to be completed.
While appointments are not necessary, visitors can request a specific time by calling the health department medical clinic at 399-8009.
