MOUNT VERNON — Tai Chi is a controlled exercise with slow, synchronized movements that are easy to learn and easy to use, whether standing or sitting. Perfect for people with arthritis, the benefits of the class may include reduced pain and stiffness, improved ability to cope with stress and depression, improved muscle strength and stamina as well as improved posture and increased circulation, heart and lung function.
A new seven-week session for Level One beginners will start on Feb. 12 and be held each Tuesday, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Center for Rehabilitation and Wellness, 1375 Yauger Road.
Participants who have been through the beginning class may continue to train in a Level 2 class with a certified Tai Chi instructor on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This is an ongoing class.
