MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Head Start is offering an “Active Parenting Now” six-week series for parents of children ages 5 to 12 starting Feb. 7, at the YMCA.
The series will show parents effective ways to use non-violent discipline techniques that work, improve communication with children, teach responsibility and other important values, handle problems as they come up, defuse power struggles with children, stimulate independence as children grow older, and encourage children to be their very best.
The training will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays starting Feb. 7 at the YMCA, 103 N. Main Street, Mount Vernon. Dinner will be provided during the training along with a gas stipend. Funding for the training was provided by the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund through the Knox County Family and Children First Council.
There are a few slots remaining for parents to enroll. Call 397-1344 ext. 237 to register.
