MOUNT VERNON — The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County presents “A Valentine Story: 125 Years of Bringing the World to Mount Vernon and Knox County,” for the Brown Bag Chat at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 13.
A panel of library representatives and special guests will take a look at the history of the public library in Mount Vernon from the first talks to open a free public library in 1816, to the official grand opening in 1888, to present day. The program is part of the yearlong Quasquicentennial Celebration.
The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The library is collecting stories, memorabilia, photographs, etc. from anyone with a personal or family connection of any kind, past or present, with any library in the local library system.
