MOUNT VERNON — Stewards of the Land, a grassroots group of concerned citizens whose focus is fracking education and preparedness, invites the public to attend a free showing of the award-winning documentary “Split Estate.”
This documentary examines the consequences and conflicts that can arise between surface landowners and those who own the mineral rights, and gives an overview of the effects of fracking. It also illustrates what landowners run up against when dealing with the oil and gas industries.
After the showing, several people will be on hand to answer questions related to injection wells, brine usage, local control, Ohio’s geology, medical ramifications and more. Handouts will be available.
Township trustees, mayors, county commissioners, first responders, city council members and others have been invited to attend this event.
“Split Estate” will be shown today at The Station Break, 160 Howard Street, Mount Vernon. Doors open at 1 p.m. with the movie showing at 1:30.
Refreshments will be provided; this event is free and open to the public. For more information, email email@example.com.
