MOUNT VERNON — The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County will celebrate its 125th anniversary on Saturday with a grand reception and open house.
From 1 to 4 p.m., the library will honor its original opening day, Feb. 16, 1888, with hors d’oeuvres, beverages and cake. Live musical performances will take place at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30. Special remarks on the day will start at 2.
County residents who have personal or family connections, past or present, or with photos and memorabilia, with Mount Vernon or any branch, should contact the library at 392-BOOK to help preserve its rich history and 125 years of service.
