GAMBIER — OBOHIO, the Double-Reed Consort, performs at Kenyon College in a free concert on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Brandi Recital Hall at Storer Hall, 105 College Drive.
The ensemble, founded in 1990, typically performs on oboe, oboe d’amore, English horn and bassoon but, on some compositions, also performs on the bass oboe, contra-bassoon and musette oboe. The repertoire includes modern compositions and reaches back to the Renaissance. In addition to concert appearances in the United States and Europe, the ensemble presents clinics and master classes at colleges and universities.
The ensemble includes Robert Sorton, professor of oboe at Ohio State University; P. Bailey Sorton, music instructor at Kenyon and Mount Vernon Nazarene University; Karrie Pierson, associate professor of bassoon at Ohio State University; and Stephanie Kunz, doctoral student in oboe performance at Ohio State University.
