MOUNT VERNON — The agriculture community invites the public to its Farmers Share Breakfast on Saturday, March 2, at the Knox County Career Center from 7 to 10 a.m. The menu includes egg casserole, biscuits and gravy, sausage, juice, milk and coffee all for only a $1 donation per person.
The Ohio Farm Bureau vision is “Forging a partnership between farmers and consumers.” The bureau wanted to localize this vision and provide an opportunity for consumers to meet Knox County farmers and to showcase what is grown locally in our county.
“Anytime we can bring agriculture awareness to the forefront and let people meet the local farmers who are producing their food is a great opportunity.” said Trish Levering, president of the Knox County Farm Bureau.
Farm Bureau volunteers, elected officials, FFA and 4-H members will prepare and serve the meal right before guests. Local businesses have been very gracious to help provide the materials for this event.
In addition to the meal, attendees will be able to view agricultural displays, win door prizes, watch agriculture videos, participate in a scavenger hunt where you can learn facts about your food, and meet with local farmers. “We hope everyone enjoys the great food and realizes agriculture is a vital part of this community.” said Levering.
