MOUNT VERNON — “Argo,” a true story of action and intrigue, will be the feature at the free movie night on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County.

Rated R, “Argo” has earned numerous critical accolades and received 64 award nominations including the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. Based on true events, Argo chronicles the little known life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans during the Iran hostage crisis.

Actor and director Ben Affleck and actors Bryan Cranston, John Goodman and Alan Arkin tell the story behind the rescue of six Americans who escaped from the American embassy during the Iranian hostage crisis and hid in the Canadian embassy. Plans to smuggle the escapees out under the ruse of a Canadian film company filming a Hollywood sci-fi film, “Argo,” seemed too outrageous to possibly succeed — or will it?

The program is free and open to the public. Due to strong language and some violence, children under age 17 must be accompanied by an adult for admission. Refreshments will be provided.

For more information, visit the main library at 201 N. Mulberry St.; call 740-392-BOOK (2665), ext. 243; visit; or email
