MOUNT VERNON — Henry David Thoreau once said, “The bluebird carries the sky on his back.” On Wednesday, the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County will host a special Brown Bag Chat on these majestic birds, “Welcome Home, Bluebirds,” at noon, with experts Don and Diana Plant.
After their popular program on bat conservation last fall, the Plant’s will bring their knowledge for their second great passion — bluebirds. As members of the North American Bluebird Society, the couple will share tips and insights into this brightly colored bird, a symbol of hope and inspiration. As spring approaches, it is important to create a welcome environment in your backyard for the return of the bluebirds and samples of proper birdhouses, feeding stations and a multimedia show will be provided at the program.
The program is free and open to the public. For information, contact the main library at 201 N. Mulberry Street, call 740-392-BOOK (2665) Ext. 243, visit www.knox.net, or email email@example.com.
