CENTERBURG — The Centerburg High School drama department will be presenting, “High School Election,” Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. and again on Sunday, April 14 at 2:30 p.m., in the Centerburg High School auditorium at 3782 Columbus Road.
“High School Election,” written by Murray Austin, is a full-length comedy. It’s election time at Stargell High, and the candidates are ready. Surfer-guy “Dag” is too irresponsible to feed his pet shark, “Amber” wants to mandate happiness, “Les,” will soon end the reign of evil, “Big Pizza.” “Pam” is threatening opposition voters, “Jane” and “Joe,” are crazy in love, and “Victor,” is homesick for Russian politics. In this outrageous parody of school elections, candidates all agree to play fair. “If there’s no mud-slinging, we’ll all stay clean.” Throw in devious campaigns, creative attack ads, singing candidates, a dose of truth serum, and disillusioned voters, and “fair” becomes a relative term.
The candidates are made up of Amber Ferko, Jared Grumney, Connor Murral, Gabriella Sanchez and Anna Wolford.
Members of the campaign support are Nathan Grizenko, Kyra Gundy, Sara Keener, Felicia Smith and Hannah Valente.
The focus groups are made up of Bailee Burke, Willis Fannin, Hannah Hebenthal, Christina Higgins, Holly Keener, Tara Keener, Caitlyn Miconi, Austin Nininger, Tyler Scowden and Emily Veach.
Tickets can only be purchased at the door on the day of the show, starting an hour prior to the show. All tickets are general admission. For further information, contact the Centerburg High School office at 740-625-6055.
