MOUNT VERNON — The 100th anniversary of the flood of 1913 in Knox County and throughout Ohio will be the featured topic at Wednesday’s 7:30 p.m. meeting of the Knox County Historical Society at the Museum, 875 Harcourt Road. Museum Director James Gibson, will present a slide program of photographs and news accounts of our area’s most damaging flood. It is free and open to the public.
A series of major rainstorms in late March, 1913, caused serious flooding throughout much of Ohio, including Knox County. Photographs and news accounts will relate the extent of the damage here.
April also marks the Historical Society’s annual meeting, at which trustees will be elected, and the museum director will summarize the many activities during the past year.
All annual and life members are encouraged to attend, and to bring along a friend who might be interested in becoming part of the society. For more information, call the museum at 740-393-5247.
