MOUNT VERNON — Power of the Purse, the American Red Cross of Knox County’s Ladies Night Out and Purse Auction will be held Friday, May 10, at the Gallagher Centre at the Ohio Eastern Star Home, 1451 Gambier Road, Mount Vernon. Doors will open at 5 p.m. to view both silent and live auction items and enjoy a salad and dessert buffet. The live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.
This will be an evening for women who love to shop for purses, offering new unused purses at both the live and silent auction. Some purses will have valuable incentives and 10 of the purses will have a “Silver Lining.”
Donated purses include brands such as Coach, Tignanello, Kate Spade and Vera Bradley, just to name a few. There will also be a “Bag Lady Boulevard,” which will showcase gently used name brand purses at rock bottom prices.
The money raised from this event will benefit those families in Knox County who are served by the local Red Cross, people whose lives have been affected by devastation from fire, flood, severe storm or other disasters. It also helps provide around-the-world 24/7 communication to servicemen and women in time of personal emergency and provide financial assistance in time of family crisis. The community turns to the Red Cross for their safety training in first aid, CPR, AED, aquatic safety and child care.
Those who wish to donate a purse, incentive, buy a ticket or table can call the American Red Cross of Knox County at 740-397-6300. Purses are already on the agency’s Facebook page; look for Knox Red Cross to see the selection. The American Red Cross is a United Way Agency.
