MOUNT VERNON — Acting on the national theme of “It’s Your Time,” the Knox County Health Department is once again hosting a Healthy Happy Hour in recognition of National Women’s Health Week. This year’s event will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Allison’s Finer Diner located at the corner of Coshocton and Upper Gilchrist roads.
This is the fourth year for Healthy Happy Hour which is for women only, ages 18 and up. The event will include health displays, informational tables and services for women such as facials, manicures, pedicures and chair massage. There will be items for sale by local women including jewelry and other accessories. Admission is free, but RSVP is required. Women can register by calling 399-8014 or sending an email to email@example.com.
Healthy Happy Hour will also feature the presentation from Dr. Debbie Cowden, “Fatigue Does Not Have To be a Way of Life.” Cowden is a physician with the health department medical clinic. “Regardless of their age, fatigue is something that most women have in common,” said Cowden. Her presentation will include practical advice to avoid fatigue including information on Vitamin D, eating certain foods and exercise. The presentation will begin at 6:15 p.m.
Healthy appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided by Allison’s Finer Diner.
The purpose of Women’s Health Week is to empower women to make their health a top priority. With the theme “It’s Your Time,” the nationwide initiative encourages women to take simple steps for a longer, healthier and happier life. Nationally, WHW is coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health.
