UTICA — Utica High School has announced that the commencement speaker for the 2013 graduation will be Michael W. Clippinger who graduated from Utica High School in 1979.

Clippinger is a vice president at JE Dunn Construction Co., one of the top general building contractors in the United States and with over $2 billion in annual revenue. As National Quality Director, he established a nationwide Quality Assurance Program for the company in 2006 at the national headquarters in Kansas City, Mo. He travels extensively throughout the country to implement quality improvement training, to perform construction industry trend analysis and to oversee field observations for multiple construction projects.

A 25-year member of the Construction Specification Institute, he holds certification as a Construction Contract Administrator. He is also a senior member of the American Society for Quality.

Clippinger served as an engineering aide in the U.S. Navy for seven years and holds a number of college degrees, including an Associate of Science in Architecture from Central Ohio Technical College, a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management from the University of Maryland,and a Master of Science in Quality Assurance from Southern Polytechnic State University’s School of Engineering Technology.

Together with Christine, his wife of 26 years, Clippinger has two children. Their daughter, Chelsea, is serving in the U.S. Navy in Japan, and their son, Alex, is a senior at Truman State University in Missouri.

The Utica High School commencement which will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Career and Technical Education Center (C-TEC) located at 150 Price Road in Newark.
