MOUNT VERNON — From an early age, Joy Sprang knew she loved working with flowers. Now as an instructor and judge for the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs and certified floral designer for local florist, Paul’s Flowers, she spends her time educating and sharing the power of flowers each day.

On Wednesday at noon, Sprang will share some of her present “Flower Power: Life Amidst the Lilies,” for the Brown Bag Chat at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County. The program is part of the “Groundbreaking Reads” Adult Summer Reading Program.

Participants will learn how to transform a basic bundle of flowers into a tabletop masterpiece by following a few tips and techniques. A question-and-answer session for both experts and beginners will follow the hands-on and multimedia presentations.

All programs are free and open to the public. Feel free to bring a bag lunch. Refreshments will be served. Flower arrangements made during the program will be given away as door prizes, courtesy of Friends of the Library. “Groundbreaking Reads” Adult Summer Reading Program registration packets, door prizes and grand prize entry tickets will be available.

For information, call 740-392-2665 Ext. 243, visit www.knox.net, or email communityrelations@knox.net.
