Centerburg — Central Ohio businesses are joining the Busy Babes Marathon Committee to bring the 2013 race to central Ohio. On Sept. 28, this 5K, 10K or half marathon run/walk is an opportunity for women of all ages in and around the community to commit to improving their health, body and soul.
The Busy Babes Marathon is a local initiative that calls attention to the importance of women’s health. Training for the race empowers women to take small, manageable steps for longer, healthier, happier lives. The steps include encouraging women to visit a health care professional to receive regular checkups and preventive screenings; get active; eat healthy; pay attention to their mental health, including managing stress and getting enough sleep; and avoid unhealthy behaviors. During the training, women receive Facebook updates and are encouraged to get together to train for 12 weeks.
There is a fee, and all participants take home a T-shirt, medal and swag bag.
