MOUNT VERNON — The newly minted Owl Creek musicians, including Sarah Goslee Reed, Alison Cline, Bill Miller, Skip Trask, Noah Shull and Mike Petee are teaming up with Sips Coffeehouse and Deli, 101 S. Main St., to bring this month’s Last Saturday Café to an actual coffeehouse.

The members of Owl Creek have been presenting a program of relaxing and entertaining new music you cannot hear anywhere else, on a monthly basis at ThePlace@TheWoodward since early this year. Band member Mike Petee indicated, “We are musicians from the general area of Owl Creek, the name used for this area when white settlers came here. We all bring different musical backgrounds, tastes, experiences, musical instruments and writing abilities to the mix and are trying to create a new musical sound that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.”

The group has been performing and evolving by presenting, in association with the Chautauqua Series and the Ohio Humanities Council and Ariel Foundation, a donation-basis monthly event to provide the area with another family friendly entertainment opportunity to the area. “We want to give an alternative to bars, clubs and concerts, to those who wish to enjoy an evening out. It’s a chance to relax and have something unique to experience from talented people right here in the Knox County and surrounding communities,” said Petee.

This month, the Last Saturday Café will take place at Sips on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations for the musicians are welcome and coffee, tea and goodies will be available. For more information contact: 740-393-8712 or 740-392-2233.
