GAMBIER — Knox County Head Start is offering the third Active Parenting Now six-week series for parents of school age children who are 5 to 12 years old beginning Sept. 5, at the Gambier Community Center, 115 Meadow Lane, Gambier.
The trainer is Lori Jones, associate director of Knox County Head Start.
The series will show attendees effective ways to use non-violent discipline techniques that work, improve communication with their school-age child, teach responsibility and other important values, handle problems as they come up, defuse power struggles with their children, stimulate independence as their children grow older, and encourage children to be their very best.
The training will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays starting Sept. 5 at the Gambier Community Center. Child care and dinner are provided during the training along with a gas stipend. Child care will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis for children ages infant through school age. The training is funded by a grant from the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund through the Knox County Family and Children First Council.
To register to attend the training, call Knox County Head Start, Erin Penrod, at 397-1344, ext. 203.
