MOUNT VERNON — The Annual Mayor’s Breakfast will take place Saturday, Oct. 5, at 8:30 a.m. in The Station Break Senior Citizen Center, 160 Howard St.
Featured speaker will be Herman Weaver of Chattanooga, Tenn., who played college football at the University of Tennessee. While at Tennessee, he had a punt of 72 yards. He has had the best hang-time ever of 5.7 seconds. His professional football career was 11 years in the NFL — seven years with the Detroit Lions and four years with the Seattle Seahawks. While playing with the Detroit Lions, Weaver was nicknamed “Thunderfoot” by Howard Cosell on Monday Night Football.
Weaver and his wife, Suzy, have been married 43 years and have two children and three grandchildren.
He is president of Thunderfoot Ministries and has spoken in 3,000-plus schools to over 1,000,000 students.
Also speaking will be Jason Foster, assistant professor of Physical Education and head women’s basketball coach for Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
