MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon High School is planning a big fundraiser for Key Club prior to the Homecoming game on Oct. 18. Half of the proceeds raised will go to Eliminate, an international cause to eliminate neo-natal Tetanus, a focus of Key Club International.
Students are selling the raffle tickets, as well as collecting money, to determine the honorary Pooper Scooper. Money is being collected during home athletic events for the Pooper Scoopers, including this Friday’s home contest against Big Walnut.
The winning scooper will be announced at 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 18, prior to the cows taking the grid, and will be in charge of scooping the poop. The cows are donated for the event by senior Leslie Day’s family farm, Lazy D Farm, and will be released on a 520-square grid at 5:45 p.m. The winner will be determined by the honorary “plop.”
Honorary candidates are: Mr. Keith Burley, Kiwanis president; Dr. Michelle Carpenter, DDS.; Mr. William Seder, Superintendent of Mount Vernon City Schools; Mr. Cory Ward, English teacher; and David “Doupy” Doup, a bus driver and avid MVCSD fan.
