JACKSONTOWN — The Ohio Department of Transportation, District 5, announces the following construction updates in Knox County:
•Replace a bridge on Ohio 95, north of Zolman Road, just north of Fredericktown. Work is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 23. Ohio 95 was closed to traffic on June 15, and will remain closed through Aug. 23, between Zolman Road and Roberts Road. The posted detour is via Ohio 97 and Ohio 13, which adds approximately five miles to a motorist’s commute.
•Construct a new 10-foot asphalt paved trail along the Conrail Railroad Corridor adjacent to Ohio 3/U.S. 36, just northeast of Centerburg. Work is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 15. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times on all intersecting streets. One-way traffic with flaggers will be necessary for brief periods to construct adjacent bikeway pavement.
East Ohio Avenue will be closed at the corner of South Main Street today from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. due to the installation of an air conditioning unit at COTC.
North Jefferson Street is open between Walnut Street and Burgess Street. Construction is complete and traffic has returned to normal operation, according to city officials.
Street replacement is currently underway on Cleveland Avenue in Centerburg. Employees with Dale Landis Construction and the Village of Centerburg have been busy this week tearing up the old street to make way for the new. One water line had to be dug up and is being relocated. Partial new curbs are also going in, and the work is hoped to be completed by the end of next week, stated Joe Hardin, street department employee with the Village of Centerburg. Final paving will be completed by Mid-Ohio Paving.
