Streets to be closed for Dan Emmett festival

MOUNT VERNON — Thursday’s start of the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival will result in several street closings.

On Wednesday, at 5 p.m., Public Square will close for the set-up of the food concessions and the main stage. At 10 p.m., South Main Street from Public Square to Ohio Avenue will shut down, as well as Vine and Gambier streets from Gay to Mulberry. (Marked in red on the map.) All streets will remain closed as the festival continues throughout the weekend.

Detours will be posted and enforced.

In addition to the main festival grounds closures, on Sunday, the Antique and Classic Car Show and the Motorcycle Show will close West High Street from Public Square to Sandusky Street and Mechanic and Mulberry streets from Chestnut Street to Vine Street. (Marked in blue on the map.) All streets will reopen late Sunday evening when the festival ends and after the cleanup is completed at approximately 10 p.m.
