Maria Kett Bay
NEWARK — Maria Kett Bay, 79, of Newark died Jan. 8, 2005, at Licking Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 18, 1925, in Neustadt A.D. Waldnabb, Germany, to Otto Schulhauser and Helene Kett. A homemaker, she was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and Fruit of the Vine Prayer Group.
She is survived by a son, Raymond N. Bay Jr., and daughter, Rosemary Yeager, both of Newark; and grandchildren, Justin Yeager and Brittany Yeager, both of Utica.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Neal Bay Sr., who died March 20, 1987; and one brother.
A funeral liturgy will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 378 E. Main St., Newark, with the Rev. Timothy Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, 10 to 11 a.m., at the church.

Nancy L. Curts
CARDINGTON — Nancy L. Curts, 72, of Township Road 230, Cardington, died Monday morning, Jan. 10, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 15, 1932, in Chardon to Milo B. and LaVerne E. (Korns) Richey. Nancy was a 1950 graduate of Cardington High School, she was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church at Mount Gilead, and she had worked as a clerk at Whiston’s Pharmacy in Mount Gilead for over 20 years.
On March 25, 1951, at the United Methodist Church in Cardington, she married Robert Curts, and he survives in Cardington. Other survivors include three sons, Gary (Holly) Curts of Mount Vernon, Michael (Pam) Curts of Terre Houte, Ind., and Stephan (Joanna) Curts of Mount Gilead; nine grandchildren, Clay, Alec, Chad, Laurel, Andrew, Adria and Rebecca Curts, Kristy (Cris) Boehm and Sarah (Kurtis) Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Aubrey Boehm; three brothers, James Richey of Spencer, N.Y., Keith Richey of Delaware and David Richey of Edison; a sister, Juanita Randall of Mount Gilead; and two aunts, Dorothy Parks of Twinsburg and Martha Korns of Marengo.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Virginia Emswiler Richey; three brothers, Joseph, Jack and Phillip Richey; and a sister, Jean Ann Richey.
Friends may call Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. The funeral will be Thursday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mount Gilead, and burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery at Cardington.

Lawrence K. Rogers
MOUNT LIBERTY — Lawrence K. Rogers, 83, of Mount Liberty died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. after serving 30 years in Mount Vernon and four years in Marshall, Minn. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a medic in World War II and the Ohio National Guard for 4 1/2 years, serving in Eastern Mandates, South Philippines.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Wolford) Rogers; sons, Douglas (Angie) Rogers of Columbus, David (Janet) Rogers of Mount Liberty and Dusty (Bonnie) Rogers of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Rebecca Lane of Newark; 10 grandsons; one granddaughter; three great-grandsons; 10 great-granddaughters; two great-great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Estell Rogers; a granddaughter, Charlotte Adams; brothers, Leonard, Ralph and Homer; a sister, Dorothy Jackson; and a nephew, James Rogers.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Willow Grove Church in Mount Liberty with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Carl Hankins will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Liberty Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home in Centerburg.
Lawrence was also a member of AMVETS and a life member of the VFW Post in Mount Vernon and the Masonic Lodge in Mount Vernon. Lawrence’s greatest joy was his great-grandchildren, Shawn, Scarlett, Wyatt and Sara Rogers.
