Virginia Clark-Baker
CLINTON, Conn. — Virginia Clark-Baker died Jan. 3, 2005, at her home in Clinton, Conn.

She was born on Oct. 4, 1929, in Alliance, Ohio, to Harold Clark and Rachel Clark Shollenberger. Virginia was high school salutatorian in 1947 and valedictorian of the class of 1951 at Mount Union College. In 1956 she earned the master’s degree in library science from the University of Chicago. Her excellent skills as librarian and a lifetime of reading and research took her to Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, as a reference librarian. There she married Robert L. Baker, professor of history at Kenyon.

Virginia was one of the original founding editors of “Choice: Current Reviews for Academic Libraries” and managed several subject sections until her retirement. She also served as project editor of the second and third editions of Books for College Libraries, a six-volume publication of the Association of College and Research Libraries. She maintained a second home in Clinton, Conn., near the offices of “Choice.”

Her husband’s research had often taken them to London, England. After his death, Virginia made London her third home. There she volunteered her librarian skills at the historically significant Women’s Library and the South Place Ethical Society at Conway Hall, sang in several choral groups, and thrived on London’s rich cultural life.

Above all, she was a loyal and beloved friend of many, including her sisters: Charlotte Clark of Gresham, Ore., and Dorothy Clark Hostetter of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Linda A. Hagy
WARSAW — Linda Ann Hagy, 56, of 30995 Township Road 336, Warsaw, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 14, 1948, in Akron to Esthur (Renner) and Marion Fetherolf. She was married to Jerry Hagy on May 6, 1968.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; two sons, Jerry Lee Hagy and Larry (Natessa) Hagy of Warsaw; a daughter, Laura (Matthew) Hawkins of Brinkhaven; five grandchildren, Bryant and Morgan Hawkins, Javin and Ashley Hagy, and Addison Hagy; three sisters, Doris Baughman of Akron, Lois Townsend of Elyria and Altalee Seitters of Johnstown; and four brothers, Howard Fetherolf of Akron, Luman “Shorty” Fetherolf of Orlando, Fla., Donald Fetherolf of Johnstown and Richard Leverton of Manchester, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home, Warsaw, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Kevin Anslow will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Mountain Cemetery.
