Virginia I. Curtis
DRESDEN — Virginia Irene Curtis, 87, of Dresden died Jan. 1,
2004, at 11 p.m. at her home.
She was born Oct. 11, 1916, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Lewis and Edna Fowler. Mrs. Curtis and her husband, Jerry, operated the Curtis Shoe Store at 619 Main St., Dresden, for 53 years. She attended the Dresden United Methodist Church and was a member of the Dresden Village Association.
Surviving are two sons, Roy (Vera) Curtis of Trinway and Lance (Lynn) Curtis of Adamsville; two daughters, Beverly (Tyrone) Kirk of Frazeysburg and Shirley (Charles) Vickers of Dresden; grandchildren, Brandi, Tanaya, Tai Kirk, Taylor Curtis, Dustin and Darin Ryan, Doug Vickers, Renee Martin, Brian Vickers, Neal Vickers, Shannon Curtis; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. John Fowler, and a sister, Ruth Smith, both of Mount Vernon.
On Feb. 13, 1937, she married Gerald “Jerry” Curits, who died July 2, 1979. Also deceased are a son, Mark A. Curtis, on May 24, 1975; a grandson, Shawn Curtis; brothers, Raymond, Kenneth, Floyd Fowler, and an infant brother; and sisters, Rena Welker, Lucy Biggs and Hazel McFarland.
Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home in Dresden, where funeral will be Tuesday. Burial will follow in Dresden Cemetery.

George Lestander
CENTERBURG — George Lestander, 76, of Centerburg passed away Dec.
24, 2003.
He was born Nov. 11, 1928, to Arwed and Adolfina Lestander in Mckees Rocks, Pa. He retired from TWA after 35 years of service. He resided in Pennsylvania until recently when he moved to Centerburg.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lestander; two daughters, Linda (Terry) Ambrose and Amy (Harold) Ballard; one son, Martin (Susan) Lestander; and seven grandchildren, Chris, Bobby, Katie, Jenn, Becca, Brendan and Jason.
There will be a memorial service today at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Road, Mount Vernon. Arrangements are being handled by the Hill Funeral Home in Westerville.

Martha J. McCaslin
MOUNT VERNON — Martha Jane McCaslin, 70, of Mount Vernon died Wednesday,
Dec. 31, 2003, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
She was born May 7, 1933, in Ambridge, Pa., to Edwin B. and Jane (Derby) Leaf. She had been employed as a clerk for the Joseph Horne Co. and retired as a ticket agent from Greyhound Buss Lines. Martha was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, and was a member and past worthy matron of Ann Hill Chapter 81 of the Order of Eastern Star at Fredericktown.
Surviving are her sons, David Nimal of Williamstown, Pa., and Clyde Nimal of London; stepsons, William McCaslin and Samuel McCaslin, both of Pittsburgh; stepdaughters, Dorotha Bailey of Carey, N.C., and Ginger (Steve) Carhart of Niceville, Fla.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brother, Edwin Leaf Jr. of New Jersey; and her sister, Mildred Calvert of Rosslyn Farms, Pa.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest Nimal and Samuel McCaslin; and two daughters, Eileen Zieman and Laura Nimal.
There will be no calling hours or service. Private burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is in charge of arrangements.

Doris M. Ranalli
MOUNT VERNON — Doris Marie Ranalli, 69, of Yauger Road, Mount Vernon,
passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount
Vernon.
Mrs. Ranalli was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Orrville to Roy and Florence (Minks) Caillet.
She is survived by a daughter, Lana (Michael) Ranalli of Fremont, Calif.; three grandchildren, Matthew Ranalli, Nicholas Ranalli and Sarah Ranalli; a sister, Barbara (Arthur) O’Dell Steward of Mount Vernon; and two nephews, Leslie O’Dell and Gary (Debra) O’Dell, both of Mount Vernon.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Burnsky.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home
in Mount Vernon, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
