Robert C. Eblin
MOUNT VERNON — Robert Charles Eblin, 78, of Mount Vernon died Sunday, Feb.
15, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born March 27, 1925, in Mount Vernon to Charles Marshal and Leota Alma (Farley) Eblin and had spent his lifetime in the Knox County area. Mr. Eblin had been self-employed as a farm machinery dealer. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Victoria (Bowman) Eblin, whom he married Dec. 20, 1944; two sons, Terry (Shirleen) Eblin of Glasgow, Ky., and David Eblin of Baton Rouge, La.; two daughters, Barbara Eblin of Mount Vernon and Tammy (Kirk) Voclain of Homma, La; three grandchildren, Katrina Eblin, Tammy Lynn Eblin and Scarlett Voclain; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Wildman and Dorothy Newman.
There will be no calling hours. A private burial will be in Brandon Cemetery. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred M. Helmich
MOUNT VERNON — Mildred M. Helmich, 81, of Mount Vernon died Saturday, Feb.
14, 2004, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon following an extended illness.
She was born April 10, 1922, in Knox County, one of 12 children of Harry and Belle (McCammett) Beckholt and had spent her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. During World War II, and shortly there after, Mrs. Helmich was employed in the communication department of the Cooper-Bessemer Co. in Mount Vernon. She had also been employed as a sales associate for the former Fashion Page women’s apparel store in Mount Vernon.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mount Vernon and was a former member of the Mount Vernon Country Club.
Surviving are her husband, Melvin J. Helmich, whom she married Jan. 7, 1950; her daughter, Sandra Warner of Stuart, Fla.; two sons, Mark J. Helmich and Eric S. Helmich, both of Mount Vernon; her grandson, Randy Warner of Mission Viejo, Calif.; two great-grandsons, Chase Warner and Blake Warner; and her sister, Mary Church of Westerville.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Weaver; six brothers; and four sisters.
Friends may call Wednesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where the funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Revs. Diane Cook and Robert Heizer officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

James H. Hood
UTICA — James H. Hood, 55, of Utica died Feb. 14, 2004, at Licking Memorial
Hospital in Newark.
He was born Aug. 25, 1948, at Cheshire, Gallia County, to Harold H. and Ida M. (Thompson) Hood. He was a graduate of Rio Grande University and a member of Utica Post 92 of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Dean) Hood; a son, Kenny Hood of Utica; a daughter, Karissa (Terry) Binkley of Heath; a grandson, Austin James Binkley of Heath; two brothers, Larry (Nancy) Hood of Addison and Robert (Janis) Hood of Midwest City, Okla.; and two sisters, Grace (Guy) See of heath and Debbie (Jeff) Rose of Delaware.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. Graveside service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Bell Cemetery at Utica.
Grete A. Sierer
MOUNT VERNON — Grete A. Sierer, 67, of Mount Vernon passed away Saturday,
Feb. 14, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born May 28, 1936, in Columbus, the daughter of Frederick P. and Isabell (Jones) Augustine, and had been a Mount Vernon resident since 1988. Grete was an avid collector of Indian artifacts and was well known for her Santa Claus art, sold at Roscoe Village, North Carolina, and specialty gift shops in the Columbus Area.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Clifford J. Sierer Jr.; a son, Troy (Leah) Sierer of Bexley; and four grandchildren, Andrew Hall, Nicole Hall, Holly Huntzinger and Madelyn Sierer.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Rolf Augustine.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Irene E. Smith
FREDERICKTOWN — Irene E. Smith, 61, of Fredericktown died Friday, Feb. 13,
2004, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland.
She was born Feb. 24, 1942, in Galion to George L. and Oma Mae (Lehman) Dilsaver. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald E. Smith, whom she married Nov. 22, 1986; three stepdaughters, Tracy Meckling, Amanda Smith and Kelley Sylvia; a stepson, Gary Repp; a sister, Georgia (Frank) Cotton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a steson, Christopher Smith; a brother, Warren Dilsaver; and a sister, Doris Freese.
