Jocelyn McFadden
MOUNT VERNON — Jocelyn McFadden, 76, formerly of Danville, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

Graveside service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Wesley Chapel Cemetery at Danville. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family requests monetary donations to help with expenses. The full obituary will be in Friday’s edition of the News.

Mary Satterfield
CENTERBURG — Our Lord, Jesus Christ, graciously reached down to take the hand of Mary E. (Pruitt) Satterfield, 71, of Centerburg on Monday, April 26, 2004, at her home.

She was born April 4, 1933, to Rush and Edra (McCraw) Pruitt in Centerburg. She had been a lifelong resident of Centerburg and married Richard “Dick” Satterfield on Dec. 24, 1952. Mary was baptized by Pastor Bruce Livingston at the Centerburg Christian Church. Active in the community in past years, Mary served as coordinator of the Centerburg Alumni Association for over 50 years. Active member of The Heart of Ohio Grange, Mary loved square dancing, drill team, playing euchre and darts. Enrollment of the kindergarten class was special to her.

Mary served as treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary of Ohio, Unit 0460, for 27 years. Mary’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 39 years, Richard “Dick”; and a special companion, Virgil Simmons.

She is survived by a son, Rick and Reesia (Barker) Satterfield of Dayton; granddaughter: Kelly Dawn (Mario) Campos, and great-grandchildren: Aaron, Mario Jr., Allison and Nicholas, of Texas; grandson: Brian Lee Satterfield, and great-grandchildren: Jake and Joey, granddaughter-in-law: Nicki Satterfield of Texas; grandson: Eric Satterfield of Texas; grandson: Mike Barker of Dayton; former daughter-in-law: Kimberly Moore of Dayton; granddaughter: Shannon (Dale) Jackson, and great-grandchildren: Taylor and Dillon of Dayton.

She is survived by daughter, Rita (Dan) Griffith of Centerburg; granddaughter: Christy (Jason) Steinwender, and great-grandsons: Jordan and Nicholas of Centerburg; grandson: Shane (Amanda) Lucas, and great-granddaughter: Megan, of Mount Liberty; grandson: Rob (Angie) Griffith, and great-grandson: Cody, of Gahanna; granddaughter: Amanda (Aaron) Yaeger, and great-grandchildren: Drew, Faith and Cade, of Centerburg; grandson: Rusty (Angie) Griffith, and great-grandchildren: Devon, Shelby, Halle and Landon, of Centerburg.

Special companions daughter, Wanda (Kenny) Conner, and children: Angie Roxanna and Kenny Jr.; son: Mike Simmons, and son: Neal; brothers: Bob (Mabel) Pruitt of Centerburg, Elmer (Bonnie) Pruitt of Greenbrier, Ark.; sister: Sue (Keith) Colopy of Centerburg; sisters-in-law: Eileen Pilkington, Bettie (Chuck) Jackson, Marianne (Ralph) Ball, Mary Satterfield, Catherine Satterfield, Thelma Satterfield, and their families. Mary was loved by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral was this morning at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at 61, Sunbury, with Brother Philip McMurrin and Pastor Carl Hankins officiating. Interment followed in the Eastview Cemetery.
