Mary Lillian Wells
MOUNT VERNON — Mary Lillian Wells, 87, formerly of Brandon, died Friday,
June 18, 2004, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home at Mount Vernon, where she had resided
since 1997.
Born Nov. 6, 1916, in Knox County, she was the daughter of Howard M. and Edna G. (Penn) Allgire. Mary Lillian was a 1934 graduate of Fredericktown High School. She had worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. She dedicated her life to her family and greatly enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a member of the Brandon United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her son, Gerald (Velma) Wells of Mount Vernon; her daughter, Sue (Tom) Miller of Howard; four grandchildren, John H. (Sherri) Wells, Jill (Jay) Kurpyl, Darla (Rino) Costa, Nathan Miller; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Phyllis (Richard) Lehnhart of Lucas; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Allgire, Rebecca Chronister, Mary Wells, Barbara French, Ruby Cathers, Marjorie Keckler; and her extended family, the staff of the Ohio Eastern Star Home.
She married John A. Wells on March 14, 1939. He died April 16, 1987. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley Allgire and Arnold Allgire.
Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where service will be Monday at 11 a.m. The Revs. Rob Law and John Clouston will officiate. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery near Waterford.
