Ruth E. McMillan
MOUNT VERNON — Mary E. McMillan, 75, of Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, passed
away Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at the Country Court Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Miletus Doddridge, W.Va., the daughter of Ferrill and Ruby (Carder) Romine. Ruth attended the First Christian Church and was employed as a clerk at Rite Aid.
She was the beloved mother of two daughters, Cathy (Mike) Tier of Mount Vernon and Cristie (Rush) Attaway of Boca Raton, Fla.; two sons, Brian McMillan of Tampa, Fla., and Jeffrey (Vicki) McMillan of Woodstock, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Julie (Trent) Long, John, Cassady, Kelsey, Joel, Jessica and Matt; one great-grandchild, Ryan; and two brothers, James Romine of Mount Vernon and Vaughn (Pat) Romine of Orlando, Fla.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Roy McMillan; and a sister, Patricia Thompson.
There will be no calling hours. The family will observe private memorial service at a later time. These arrangements are under the care and direction of Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home.

Gertrude L. Mitchell Memorial Service
MOUNT VERNON — Memorial service for Gertrude L. (Magill) Mitchell will be
today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the First Congregational United Church of Christ,
200 N. Main St. (Location changed due to inclement weather.)
Mrs. Mitchell passed away June 5, 2004, at the Liberty Heights Retirement Residency at Colorado Springs, Colo.

Eloise Porter
MANSFIELD — Mary Eloise Porter, 90, of Mansfield died early Friday, Sept.
17, 2004, at her home after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 10, 1914, in Mount Vernon to Charles and Esma (Hawkins) Bischoff. She was a Mansfield area homemaker most of her life. Eloise was a member of the Main Street United Methodist church.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Ann “Petie” (Donald F.) West of Marion; and two grandchildren, Bradley R. West of Mansfield and Renee M. West of Columbus.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Porter, on Aug. 2, 1986; and a sister, Kathryn Bischoff.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, where funeral will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Allen E. Rose will officiate. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
