James B. Berry
MOUNT VERNON — James B. Berry, 72, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Mount Pleasant,
died Friday, March 4, 2005, at his home in Mount Vernon.
He was born April 5, 1932, at Mount Pleasant, the son of George and Clara (Rowland) Berry. James was a self-employed truck driver, a Presbyterian by faith, a former member of the Dillonvale and Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Departments, and served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his father, George Berry, and his mother, Clara Berry Pattison, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Berry.
He is survived by three sons, George Berry of Dillonvale, Wayne Bruce (Roxanne) Berry of Weirton, W.Va., and 1st Sgt. Paul (Mary) Berry serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq; one daughter, Irene Berry of Martins Ferry; one brother, Keith (Pam) Berry of Smithfield; two sisters, Judy (Harry) Mitchell of Wheeling, W.Va., and Phyllis (William) Fischer of Hebron; and three grandchildren.
Friends are invited to attend visitation Friday from 5 p.m. until time of the memorial service at 7 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second St., Dillonvale. The Rev. Byron McElroy will officiate.

MOUNT VERNON — Lee Hershner, 74, of Mount Vernon passed away Wednesday,
March 9, 2005, at Knox Community Hospital. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is in

J.R. ‘Bob’ Young
HEATH — A funeral service for James Robert “Bob” Young, 67,
of Heath will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home.
The Rev. Robert L. Knox will officiate. Bob passed away March 7, 2005, at the
Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center.
He was born June 20, 1937, in Mount Vernon to Donald C. and Thelma (Lucker) Young. Bob was retired from the American Electric Power Co. after 32 years of service. He enjoyed golfing and refurbishing furniture, but had a true love for restoring classic cars and later motorcycles. He is best remembered for his witty sense of humor, and the love he showed toward his wife, children, family and friends.
Besides his mother, Thelma Vernon, he is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Ruth A. Young of Heath, whom he married July 18, 1980; two sons, Robert (Margaret) Young of Westerville and Jeff (Terra) Young of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Debbie (Todd) Parker of Maumee, Kim Young of Westerville and Cathy (John) Brooks of Phoenix, Ariz.; stepdaughter, Marsha (Tom) Schulz of Midland, Mich.; brother, John (Lilly) Young of Tucson, Ariz; half sisters, Linda Wright and Barb Vernon, both of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Katie and Joey Parker, Kelsey Merriam, Kirstie Mortimer, Kayla Brooks, Cora Murray, Mathew, Meredith and Jack Schulz; along with several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Dennis C. Young; and stepfather, Herb Vernon.
Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark.
