Dale W. Bumpus
WALHONDING — Dale W. Bumpus, 78, of 1692 Ohio 206, Walhonding, died Saturday,
April 16, 2005, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born June 22, 1926, in Tiverton Center to Audrey (Kirch) and Harrison Bumpus. He was a 1944 graduate of Warsaw High School, and served in World War II as a combat infantryman in Germany with the 3rd Army, 90th Infantry Division, 1944-46. He retired from the Clow Corp.; was a farmer; and a member of VFW Post 2040, American Legion, NRA, the 90th Division Association, Tiverton Church of Christ and Tiverton Grange. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and golf.
He is survived by a son, William (Peg) Bumpus of Tiverton Center; two daughters, Kathy (Randy) McKee of Tiverton Center and Connie (Ron) Vipperman of Tiverton Center; a brother, Arthur (Marilyn) Bumpus of Washington Court House; six grandchildren, David (Trish) Mumaw of Tiverton Center, Stephanie Moreland of Mount Vernon, Douglas Bumpus and Jennifer Bumpus of Columbus, Kurt Vipperman of Wooster and Katie Vipperman of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Alex Moreland of Mount Vernon and Michael Jones of Tiverton Center; and several nieces and nephews.
He married Wilma Joy (Wolf) Bumpus on Aug. 1, 1948. She preceded him in death Feb. 5, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother, Wilbur Gale Bumpus; and two sisters, Virginia Hays and Bonnie Bumpus.
Funeral will be Wednesday, April 20, at 10 a.m. at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Minister Ed Boyce and Leroy Bumpus officiating. Burial will be in Tiverton Cemetery, with graveside military service conducted by the Coshocton County Joint Veterans Council. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday until service time.

Mary A. Church
MOUNT VERNON — Mary A. Church, 92, departed this world Friday, April 15,
2005, at 11 a.m. at The Laurels of Mount Vernon of natural causes.
She was born Oct. 9, 1912, one of 12 children, to Harry and Belle (McCammett) Beckholt. She most recently resided at Sugar Grove Square Apartments in Westerville for 11 years. She was a longtime member of Capital City Baptist Church in Columbus.
She is survived by her son, David M. (Christine) Church of Fredericktown; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nile G. Church; six brothers; and five sisters.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Scott Repko will officiate.

MOUNT VERNON — Opal Elliott, 74, of Mount Vernon died April 15, 2005, at
her residence.
She was born June 10, 1930, in Virginia to Erven and Birtha (Woods) Compton. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Elliott, whom she had been with for 14 years; three sons, Bernard (Vicki) Eggers of Slidell, La., Mike (Becky) Eggers of Mount Vernon and Kenny Eggers of LaGrange, Ga.; five daughters, Bambi (Floyd) Shrum of Blytheville, Ark., Barbara Crawford of Carriere, Miss., Sylvia Lineberry of Mount Vernon, Frances Hayman of Carrollton, Ga., and Brenda Hanna of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Ellen (Dick) Elliott of Marengo and Dorothy (Foster) Sanders of Mount Vernon; a brother, Chifford “Butch” Fields of Millwood; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey and Crawford Compton.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Apostolic Christian Church, 1200 W. Chestnut St., Mount Vernon, where funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor Duane E. Kramer officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. The North-Dilley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

GALVESTON, Texas — William M. Shaw, 47, of Galveston, Texas, formerly of
Coshocton, died at his residence.
A short graveside service for family and friends will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Prairie Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Davis officiating. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is handling the arrangements.
Roberta Thompson
CLEARWATER, Fla. — Roberta Finley Harris “Mickey” Thompson,
77, of Clearwater, Fla., died Thursday, April 14, 2005, in Mease Countryside Hospital.
She was born Jan. 4, 1928, to Karl Elwood and Mary Olive (Drumm) Finley.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six brothers; six sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three infant children; two brothers; and a sister.
A memorial service was held Sunday in Clearwater, Fla. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, Mansfield, is serving the family.
