Alice S. Culler
LUCAS — Alice S. Culler, 93, of Lucas died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Mifflin Care Center following a brief illness.

She was born Oct. 9, 1912, in Ashland County, the daughter of William and Nora (Rice) Knapp. Mrs. Culler was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Lucas and was a homemaker.

Surviving are one daughter, Norma Jean Schrack of Mansfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Grace Culler of Orlando, Fla., and James and Carol Culler of Shelby; 11 grandchildren, Andrew (Kim) Schrack, Barbara (Paul) Eddy, Audrey (Dan) Gaston, Susan (Erik) Laps, John, Stephanie and Stanley Culler, Jim (Sue) Culler, Jeff (Cherie) Culler, Kaye Carmean and Kelly Carmean; 13 great-grandchildren, Autumn and Drew Schrack, Daniel, Jack and Noah Eddy, Lauren and Evan Gaston, Elyse and Rachel Laps, Alex and Haley Culler, Lizzy DeWitt and Gage Carmean; and special friends, Joyce Leiendecker and Leonard and Kathy Kleilien.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Lee Culler, in 1999; one brother; three sisters; and a son-in-law, Ron Schrack.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Lucas, with the Rev. Ronald E. Daley officiating. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Mary L. Knox
MOUNT VERNON — Mary L. Knox, 78, of Mount Vernon passed away Feb. 19, 2006, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

She was born March 18, 1927, in Utica to John W. and Hazel L. (Pugh) Kearns.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Charles) McFarland of Butler; a son, Charles B. (Karen) Knox Jr. of Arlington, Texas; three granddaughters; a stepgrandson; four great-grandchildren; a brother, George Kearns of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Peggy Hemstreet of Phoenix, Ariz., and Yvonne Bechtel of Mansfield.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Knox Sr., in 2004; two daughters, Janet and Mary Lou Knox; and a sister, Betty Chinn.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Brandon Cemetery with Minister Delmar Jervis officiating. The North-Dilley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Donald D. Sherman
COLUMBUS — A funeral service for Donald D. Sherman, 66, of Columbus will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Owl Creek Baptist Church, 4044 Owl Creek Church Road, Mount Vernon, with Pastors John Nye and Leigh Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow in Owl Creek Cemetery.

Donald died Feb. 21, 2006, at his residence. He was born Nov. 1, 1939, in Mount Vernon to the late Howard H. “Mike” and Hazel P. (Llewellyn) Sherman. He was a member of Owl Creek Baptist Church, Mount Vernon, was employed by Home Depot and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Donald is survived by his wife, Helen L. (Grant) Sherman of Columbus; son, Michael Chrysostom of Columbus; daughters, Lois (Mark) Pennell of Johnstown, Rita (Bob) Machler and Robin (Jim) Bruce, both of Columbus, and Ronda (Dick) Trout of West Jefferson; a sister, Lois Buckenburger of Johnstown; five grandsons, Colton and Logan Pennell, Chad Hendricks, Sam Pettit and Dean Trout; five granddaughters, Jennifer and Pamela Mackler, Chasity Hendricks, Raelynn Pettit and Loretta Trout; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Sherman of Utica; and niece, Nicole Buckenburger.

Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica.
