died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at her residence in Holmes County following a courageous

Mary Joan Laughrey
MOUNT VERNON — Mary Joan Laughrey, 89, of Mount Vernon died Thursday, Feb.
23, 2006, at the North View Senior Living Center in Johnstown.
Mary was born July 19, 1916, in Mount Vernon to Oscar and Cora (Diehl) Fry and had spent her lifetime in Mount Vernon. Mary and her husband, Conard, had owned and operated several taverns in the central Ohio area. She was a member of the Mount Vernon Moose Lodge.
Surviving are her daughter, Carol Jean Bennett of St. Cloud, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Sue Laughrey of California; eight grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Conard; a daughter, Joan Graska; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where friends may call one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Floyd D. Myers
DOUGLAS, Ariz. — Floyd D. Myers of Douglas, Ariz., died Feb. 7, 2006, at
the home of his son, Floyd Jr., of Sun City, Ariz.
Mr. Myers was born Feb. 4, 1920, in Centerburg, Ohio. He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by two sons, Floyd of Sun City, Ariz., and Frank of San Angelo, Texas; six grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Janet (Simpkins) Myers. She was born and raised in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Arrangements are by Minkes Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ 85351. Interment and graveside services will be Monday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. in Veteran’s Cemetery at Phoenix, Ariz. Having been cremated, Mr. and Mrs. Myers will be interred together at that time.
Roger L. Stokes
SPRING HILL, Fla. — Roger Lee Stokes, 62, of Spring Hill, Fla., formerly
of Coshocton, passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital.
Roger was born to the late Hyle and Mildred Stokes in Coshocton on March 8, 1943. Roger was a supervisor for General Electric for 36 years, member of the Moose Lodge, the Elks Lodge and was an outstanding athlete throughout high school in basketball, football and baseball. In his later years, Roger was an avid golfer.
Survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” (Berkshire) Stokes, whom he married on June 30, 1986; children, Kori (Stan) Hardesty and Jenni Brown, both of Coshocton, and Kirby Stokes of Cadiz; stepchildren, Shelly (Rick) Valentine of Toledo and Terri (Mike) Phillabaum of Coshocton; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Bill (Gloria) Stokes of Walhonding and Ralph (Charlene) Stokes of Texas; two sisters, Janet Blue of Walhonding and Manda Lae Kreider of Vance, Ala.; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call today from noon to 3 p.m. at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, where funeral service will start at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jane Betts officiating. Interment will be in Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
